Fixed Wire Testing

Fixed Wire Testing (Electrical Testing and Inspection) involves testing the systems that conduct electricity around a building.

Inspection & Testing (Electrical Testing)

We have a team of testing engineers have a wealth of experience in this field, helping companies both large and small to conform to the Wiring Regulations and therefore comply with the ‘Electricity at Work Regulations’ (EaWR) 1989’. Whether providing site surveys, technical advice, producing fixed wiring drawings or undertaking extensive testing programmes, we are confident of our ability to deliver the highest possible standards of quality and service.

All JFK Electrical programmes of fixed wire testing are carried out in accordance with BS7671 and IEE inspection and testing Guidance Note 3. Every effort is made to deliver a solution looking after your corporate and legal best interests whilst helping to achieve the ultimate goal of compliance with the Electricity at work regulations 1989.

Why should you be concerned over electrical safety?

It is the law! The law demands that we use electricity safely and is mainly addressed under the electricity at work act. This states the requirement for an electrical installation to be designed, installed and maintained in a safe manner at all times. It advises that records of maintenance, including test results, will give a condition report and a means of effective monitoring.

To achieve an acceptable standard of safety, Electrical Inspection & Testing of fixed wiring is an essential responsibility of a site ‘Duty Holder’. A comprehensive Inspection & testing programme and condition report highlights dangerous faults on an electrical installation which can then be addressed and eliminated.

Installations of different usage require fixed wire testing at differing intervals

  • Domestic – Every 10 years or change of occupancy
  • Commercial and offices – Every 5 years or change of occupancy
  • Industrial and places of public entertainment –  Every 3 years

JFK Electrical ltd is committed to helping organisations achieve compliance with the ‘Electricity at Work Regulations 1989’ and therefore offers a standard service of 100% Inspection, 100% Testing (as far as is reasonably practicable). Dependent on the size and nature of an installation, we can customise programmes over 1 to 5 years to suit your requirements or budget and the industry recommendations. If your company is in possession of previous records of testing and network drawings then we may be able to offer a reduced service of representative testing.
